Researchers at the University of Waterloo have developed an artificial intelligence-based framework to analyse aluminium corrosion and identify electrolyte conditions that could improve the performance of aluminium-air batteries. Capral backs provisional duties of up to 73.3% on Chinese aluminium windows and doors
Australian aluminium producer Capral has welcomed proposed trade measures against Chinese aluminium window and door imports, following preliminary findings of dumping and subsidies that have put pressure on local manufacturers. The Australian Trade Remedies Commission's investigation found dumping margins of 5.3 per cent to 70.4 per cent on certain imports. Provisional measures introduced on October 15 require importers to provide financial security against potential duties of up to 73.3 per cent. The investigation covers fully and partially assembled aluminium windows and doors imported from China between July 2024 and June 2025. LME aluminium cash bid slips to $2,998.50 as three-month prices fall 0.63%
LME aluminium prices edged lower on October 15, with cash and futures contracts weakening. The Asian Reference Price was little changed, while exchange inventories recorded modest declines. Alumina Platts prices continued to climb. The cash bid slipped 0.31 per cent to USD 2,998.5 per tonne from USD 3,008 per tonne on October 14 . Guinea bauxite shipment reaches China through new sea-rail route
A shipment of 168,000 tonnes of bauxite from Guinea has arrived at Fangchenggang Port in Guangxi, southern China. The first batch of cargo was transported by rail to Wanzhou in Chongqing on October 3, supplying raw materials to a mineral production base in the city. The new route connects overseas bauxite supplies with inland industries through Beibu Gulf Port. According to Beibu Gulf Port Group, it offers a direct sea-rail transport link from the port to Chongqing.
