Xinfa Group, one of China’s top aluminium producers, has reduced production at its alumina plant in southern China’s Guangxi region due to tight bauxite SMM-BAUX-GUAXI supply. The news came after a company official and a consultancy reported this to Reuters.

The Group has lowered the production by 500,000 tonnes on an annual basis, said the Xinfa official. He further added the plant has a total alumina producing capacity of 3 million tonnes per year.
Consultancy Baiinfo said the daily production rate at the Xinfa plant went down from 7,600 tonnes to 6,100 tonnes.
The official from Xinfa and from a privately held company with aluminium smelters in Shandong and Xinjiang informed the production cut would be applicable would be in place for at least a month.
Earlier in November 2018, China's Shandong Chiping Xinfa Group had cut operating capacity at its Shanxi Jiaokou alumina refinery in northern China to 50% due to limited bauxite supply and power plant issues.
