
World primary aluminium production in July 2021 amounted to 5.747 million tonnes, which was an increase of 3.4 per cent from 5.558 million tonnes a month ago, according to the latest data from the International Aluminium Institute. However, the output of world primary aluminium in June edged 3.67 per cent lower than 5.770 million tonnes in May 2021.

On a year-on-year calculation, world primary aluminium production in July was up by 5.20 per cent from 5.463 million tonnes, found IAI.
Total production from January to July came in at 39.284 million tonnes, 4.62 per cent more than 37.548 million tonnes during the same period last year.
International Aluminium Institute data also found that the world daily average primary aluminium production in July 2021 was at 185,400 tonnes, essentially unchanged from 185,300 tonnes a month ago. On a year-on-year data, it was up by 5.22 per cent from 176,200 tonnes.
In China, the world’s leading primary aluminium producer, the output in July stood at 3.343 million tonnes, up by 3.34 per cent from 3.235 million tonnes in June. On a year-on-year data, the production edged 7.11 per cent higher than 3.121 million tonnes.
In the GCC countries, primary aluminium production amounted to 496,000 tonnes, and in Asia (ex-China), the output totalled 384,000 tonnes in July 2021. Both were up by 4.86 per cent and 3.78 per cent month-on-month from 473,000 tonnes and 370,000 tonnes, respectively.
