
Global alumina production stood at 10.574 million tonnes in February 2021, an increase of 1.41% from 10.427 million tonnes in February 2020, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). On a month-on-month comparison, the output reduced 9.99% from 11.747 million tonnes.

For the first two months of 2021, total alumina production came in at 22.321 million tonnes, marking a growth of 2.54% from 21.768 million tonnes for the first two months of 2020.
In Africa and Asia ex-China, alumina production increased by 5.77% year-on-year but down by 1.82% month-on-month to 1.026 million tonne tonnes in February 2021. In January-February, output came in at 2.071 million tonnes, down from 1.976 million tonnes in January-February 2020.
In Oceania, alumina production stood at 1.554 million tonnes in February, a decrease of 4.01% from 1.619 million tonnes in February 2020. The output dropped by 1.17% to 3.365 million tonnes in January-February.
China’s estimated alumina production stood at 5.654 million tonnes in February 2021, IAI data showed.
