Westwood Aluminum Castings Inc. in Waukesha, a former aluminum foundry that went out of business last August, will auction off its machinery and other assets on Wednesday at the foundry.

The public auction of the assets, including melting furnaces, crucibles, blast-cleaning machines, mixers, crushers, ovens, cranes, air compressors and other gear necessary to melt and cast aluminum, will be conducted by liquidation firm LiquiTec Industries Inc.

"This sale is an exciting event as it includes a wide variety of manufacturing assets for those in the foundry business as well as many other manufacturers in allied industries," Marc Swirsky, president of LiquiTec, said in a news release.

The auction begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the foundry, 1242 Lincoln Ave. in Waukesha.

Bidders can bid in person at the foundry or online. For information about the items for sale, see www.LiquiTec.net.

Westwood Aluminum Castings, formerly known as Quality Aluminum Castings, dates to 1923. The sudden shutdown in August 2011 of the foundry threw nearly 90 people out of work.
