AEC files new scope clarification case against China Zhongwang

The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) has reported that they have filed a new scope clarification case against China Zhongwang Holdings Limited and its extensive network of affiliates, asking the Department of Commerce (DOC) to expand the DOC’s determination last December regarding Zhongwang’s alleged pallets to expressly cover alleged pallets constructed out of 6xxx aluminium alloy.

U.S. aluminium Industry files dumping action against China

The Aluminum Association’s Trade Enforcement Working Group today filed antidumping and countervailing duty petitions charging that unfairly traded imports of certain aluminum foil from the People’s Republic of China are causing material injury to the domestic industry. 

Constellium reports higher EBITDA for Q4 and 2016; cuts down net loss

Constellium has reported an adjusted EBITDA of €81 million in Q4, up 8% YOY. For the full year 2016, the company reported adjusted EBITDA of €377 million, up 10% from 2015. The company reported revenue of €1.2 billion in Q4, up 3% from Q4 2015 and €4.7 billion for the full year 2016, down 8% primarily due to lower metal prices.

Aleris reports loss and lower EBITDA for 2016; Q4 EBITDA improves on stronger demand

Aleris reported a net loss of $35 million in Q4 2016 and adjusted EBITDA increases to $43 million. For 2016, full year, Aleris posted revenues of approximately $2,664 million. Full year adjusted EBITDA was down from $223 million in 2015 to of $205 million.

Canadian government announces $17 million for aluminium automotive components

Government of Canada has awarded a repayable of $17 million to the Astrex Inc. of Lakeshore for installing North America’s first-of-its-kind aluminium automotive parts facility. The facility will manufacture lightweight, high-strength aluminium auto part components that would reduce carbon emissions as well as consumption of fuel.

Aluminium product shipments in North America up YoY and MoM

According to the latest report from Aluminum Association, shipments of aluminium powder and paste to domestic markets stood at 6.27 million pounds during January 2017.  This reported an increase of about 12% over the January 2016 total of 5.60 million pounds. Month on month; shipments rose about 7% from December 2016. Shipments for the full year 2016 stood at 75.15 million pounds, off 18.2% from the 2015 total of 91.84 million pounds. 

Aluminium China 2017 to showcase latest technologies in lightweight auto and consumer electronics

This year’s Aluminium China in Shanghai from 19-21 July is set to mark a new period of growth in the aluminium industry and reflect strengthening market conditions in China and across the world. Aluminium China 2017 will focus on the transformation driven by emerging new technologies in areas such as lightweight vehicle manufacturing and consumer electronics.
