The sessions addressed core topics including lesson construction, classroom leadership, disaster preparedness and management, first-aid, and technology in teaching. Teachers engaged in interactive workshops and training experiences that were hands-on, and subsequently received certificates acknowledging their contributions. The participation of senior education officials, Sashmita Sahu, Joint Director, OSEPA, and Amulya Kumar Padhan, Regional Director, DHSE, Sambalpur emphasized its significance for rural schools.
Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Teachers are the backbone of education, and empowering them is key to nurturing future-ready students. Such programmes play a crucial role in equipping educators to deliver engaging learning experiences for young minds. By investing in their growth, we are strengthening the foundation of learning and driving long-term impact in our communities.”
Amulya Kumar Padhan, Regional Director, DHSE, Sambalpur, said this initiative by Vedanta Aluminium is a very important step towards improving the quality of education in rural Odisha. Such partnerships are crucial for developing a more equitable and effective education system.
This educational effort builds on Vedanta Aluminium’s wider social impact work. In July 2025, on World Youth Skills Day, the company empowered more than 15,000 young people. The programme spanned Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. It provided job-ready skills in more than 25 trades, from solar energy to CNC operations. Over 70 per cent of participants secured jobs or entrepreneurial pathways. The initiative was supported by OSDA and NABARD.
Rajiv Kumar remarked then, “At Vedanta, we believe skilling is a nation-building exercise. Our initiatives are not just creating livelihoods; they are fostering dignity and confidence and building a new generation of changemakers across India’s rural heartlands.”
By linking classroom improvement with workforce empowerment, Vedanta Aluminium positions education and skilling as twin levers of rural transformation. As India’s largest aluminium producer, the company continues to invest in social infrastructure alongside its industrial leadership.
