
The United States aluminium scrap exports to the Republic of Korea dipped slightly in August 2020, the third largest destination for the US aluminium scrap exports. The latest data from the US Geological Survey shows the United States supplied 23,800 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Korea in August 2020, compared with 24,600 tonnes in July. This means the exports dropped by 800 tonnes or 3.25 per cent month-on-month in August.

The exports in July grew by 3,000 tonnes or 12.20 per cent from 21,600 tonnes in June. In May, the United States exported 22,300 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Korea, meaning the exports in June plunged by 3.14 per cent month-on-month.
On a year-on-year basis, the United States aluminium scrap exports to the Republic of Korea in August 2020 stood up by 600 tonnes or 2.59 per cent from 23,200 tonnes.
In the first eight months of the year, the United States aluminium scrap exports to Korea totalled 190,000 tonnes, up by 10,000 tonnes from 180,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium exports (including aluminium semis and flat-rolled products) to Korea in August 2020 stood at 25,600 tonnes, down by 900 tonnes month-on-month from 26,500 tonnes but up by 700 tonnes year-on-year from 24,900 tonnes.
