
According to the data released by the United States Geological Survey for May 2020, the US aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports to Mexico stood at 13,800 tonnes, down by 4,700 tonnes or 25.41 per cent from 18,500 tonnes in April. In March 2020, the United States exported 26,900 tonnes of aluminium semis, registering a hike of 2,800 tonnes or 11.62 per cent from 24,100 tonnes in February. In April, the aluminium semis exports from the US to Mexico declined by 8,400 tonnes or 31.22 per cent month-on-month. Even February witnessed a downfall of 2,000 tonnes or 7.66 per cent from the exports in January.

On a year-on-year calculation, the United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports to Mexico in May 2020 stood down as well by 17,700 tonnes or 56.19 per cent from 31,500 tonnes.
In the first five months of the year, the United States aluminium semis exports to Mexico amounted to 109,000 tonnes, down by 59,000 tonnes or 35.12 per cent from 168,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
After Mexico, China was the next leading aluminium semis export destination for the United States, with 1,860 tonnes in May 2020, down by 10.58 per cent from 2080 tonnes month-on-month and by 35.20 per cent from 3,210 tonnes year-on-year.
