The soaring energy prices in Europe have caused a severe impact on aluminium production and shifted output to China. However, due to China’s increasingly depleted bauxite reserves, this repositioning has increased bauxite shipments, benefitting the West African nation, Guinea, the world’s largest exporter of bauxite, which accounts for around half of traded volumes and has seen a 14.9% growth in bauxite shipments by now in 2022.

According to a report, Hydro signed a new strategic collaboration agreement with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) to build up professional collaborations to practise more R&D on aluminium and energy. The agreement was signed by Hydro’s President& CEO Hilde Merete Aasheim and NRNU’s chief academic and administrative officer Anne Borg, in the presence of key Hydro technologists, NTNU professors and SINTEF researchers in Trondheim.
Arconic, one of the leading providers of aluminium sheet, plate and extrusions in the United States, announced that the company has successfully sold Promishlennie Investitsii LLC, the main shareholder of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, 100 per cent of its Russian operations for cash proceeds of $230 million.
On November 18, 2022, the European rolled aluminium manufacturer with six decades of experience in the sector introduced ‘Aludium Eco’, a range of cutting-edge products with a third-party certified carbon footprint of less than 4 tons C02 /t AL, cradle-to-gate. However, it has also been reported that the carbon footprint in certain Aludium Eco products is even lower at less than 3 or even 2 tonnes C02 /t AL.
Ducati has unleashed its latest Diavel V4 featuring a Bologna’s V4 Granturismo engine, along with an aluminium monocoque frame that has significantly reduced the motorcycle's weight. Ducati has redesigned the vehicle with a substantial changes in the styling and chassis design for 2023.

Novelis Incorporation, the world’s largest aluminium recycler and flat-rolled producer, broke ground on November 6 at a new $50 million recycling centre in South Korea. The project will be able to produce 100 thousand tonnes of low-carbon sheet ingot annually by recycling aluminium, resulting in reducing Novelis’ carbon emissions by more than 420,000 tonnes each year.
