The deliveries of aluminium tubes and aerosol cans reflected an annual decline in the first six months of 2025, as reported by Aluminium Deutschland. Members of its Tubes, Cans and Impact Extruded Parts Association reported a shipment of 393 million aluminium tubes and 268 million units of aerosol cans during the said period, down by 1 per cent and 3.2 per cent, respectively, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Although the demand from deodorant and haircare markets saw a moderate rise, the overall decline was driven by the weaker sales in various cosmetic sectors and in other small segments, including food and other household products and pharmaceuticals. Moreover, rising energy, logistic costs, and raw material costs added to the overall competitiveness. The industry is also keeping a watch on the impact of the newly introduced 50 per cent tariff on the empty cans and tubes made of aluminium in the US.
The association stated that most of the German producers mainly focus on supplying their products to the domestic and wider EU markets. However, only a few exporters could feel the impact of it.
Johannes Schick, Chairman of the Association, said: “Against the backdrop of global trade barriers, geopolitical tensions, and a weak European and German economy, the current business environment remains highly challenging. Nevertheless, our members are demonstrating resilience, adapting to regulatory changes, and continuing to ensure the reliable supply of aluminium tubes and aerosol cans to customers worldwide.” However, the member firms mainly focus on the effective utilisation of energy for manufacturing sustainable packaging for the overall business growth.
