The Aluminum Association releases new test procedure for aluminium alloy

The test procedures described in the publication are used to determine the ability of grain refiners to reduce grain size during solidification of aluminum alloys under standardized conditions, and for examining the structure of the grain refiner for uniformity. It has been reissued after a joint Task Group of the Aluminum Association’s Master Alloys and Additives Division and the Technical Committee on Product Standards completed a round robin to evaluate the procedure described in TP-1.
A separate report of the findings of the Task Group Report on the Interpretation of the Precision and Accuracy of the TP-1 Test When Multiple Laboratories Evaluate the Same Grain Refiner has also been published which includes details and evaluation of the round robin results. TP-1 is available from The Association’s online bookstore or by phone at (301) 645-0756 for USD 30.00 for members of The Aluminum Association and USD 60.00 for non members.
Members of the Aluminum Association can request a copy of the round robin report free of charge with payment of shipping and handling. For non members, the Report is available for free with the purchase of TP-1 and USD 20.00 for additional copies.
