The 18th International Conference on Non-Ferrous Minerals and Metals’14 concludes in Nagpur

The 18th International Conference On Non-Ferrous Minerals and Metals’14, organized by Corporate Monitor and JNARDD and supported by Ministry of mines, Govt. of India & IBAAS in association with VNIT and AlCircle.com took place in Radisson Blu Hotel, Nagpur on 11th and 12th july’14.

The two day conference on Non-ferrous minerals & metals covered topics on mineral exploration, extraction, beneficiation and processing. It covered the global and national scenario of aluminium, copper, zinc & lead and other precious, strategic and rare metals, process improvement, consumable, environment issues, energy, alloy and application development. Waste management, one of the significant issues for the metal industry was extensively covered by conference papers during the two days.

The 1st day conference was graced by the eminent guests from the Indian non-ferrous industry like Mr. Ansuman Das, CMD, NALCO, Mr. Sanjay Sarkar COO, Birla Copper, and Mr. Ramesh Nair, CEO, BALCO. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Anupam Agnihotri, Chairman JNARDD.

The conference also awarded stalwarts from the R & D and industrial sector of the non-ferrous industry like K. Balasubramanian, Director, NFTDC, Mr. Ramesh Nair, CEO, BALCO and Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, Jt. President, Hindalco.

Mr. Ansuman Das, CMD, NALCO, stressed on the importance of mining industry in the overall GDP growth of a country and expressed his concern over the diminishing growth of the mining industry in India.

The conference saw some of the most informative papers presented by the industry representatives. Ms. Soma Mondal, Director Commercial, Nalco presented the National and Global Scenario for the global aluminium industry to the present delegates. Dr. Ashok Nandi, Secretary IBAAS presented a current picture of the national and global bauxite alumina industry.

A number of technical papers were presented on different energy saving technologies for the alumina aluminium industry, red mud disposal and reutilization and aluminium dross. Second day conference was also presented with a number of valuable papers both from the R&D and industrial sector.

The event coincided with the Silver Jubilee celebration of Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre, Nagpur (JNARDDC). The Silver Jubilee Souvenir was released by Mr. Ansuman Das.

Alcircle team was present to cover the two day event as a media and event partner.
