TECNO launched the SPARK 50 series with two new models, the SPARK 50 5G and SPARK 50, with aluminium design, AI features and large batteries for everyday performance and endurance.

The SPARK 50 5G features a six-series aviation-grade aluminium build, which offers higher strength compared to conventional alloys while maintaining a lightweight profile. 

On the battery side, the SPARK 50 comes with a 7000 mAh battery, while the SPARK 50 5G packs a 6500 mAh unit with 45 W fast charging, capable of reaching full charge in about an hour. TECNO claims the battery system supports up to 1,800 charging cycles, maintaining over 80 per cent health for up to six years on the 5G model, while the standard variant retains similar battery health for around five years. The SPARK 50 also supports up to 48 hours of continuous talk time.

Durability features extend beyond the battery. Both the devices offer IP64 rated water and dust resistance and support for Wet Touch 2.0, which helps with better screen responsiveness even in wet or oily conditions. The SPARK 50 5G also carries MIL-STD-810H certification, while the SPARK 50 is rated to withstand drops from up to 1.8 metres.

On the AI front, both devices are equipped with TECNO’s AI ecosystem, including the Ella AI voice assistant and AI FlashMemo, which can capture on-screen content and automatically generate summaries, titles and tags via the AI MindHub system.

The SPARK 50 5G includes AI noise cancellation for calls and recordings. On the other hand, the SPARK 50 uses AI voice cancellation for improved clarity in noisy environments. 

The camera module includes a 50MP AI sensor, supported by AI FlashSnap for capturing fast moving objects and BestMoment for automatically detecting optimal frames. Both also feature LivePhoto which enables short motion captures alongside standard images. 

Extra features include an IR blaster, for controlling more than 2000 home appliances across 15 categories.

For performance, the SPARK 50 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 5G+ processor which offers an AnTuTu score of over 450,000. It also supports 5G carrier aggregation, offering download speeds up to 200 per cent faster than standard 5G, along with TÜV Rheinland High Network Performance Certification in select markets. The device also supports gaming at up to 90 fps.

Connectivity is further extended through FreeLink 2.0, enabling off-grid communication such as calls, messages and image sharing over a range of up to 1.5 km without a cellular network. The SPARK 50 additionally includes an SA1 signal-boosting chip, improving call distance by around 30 per cent in weak signal conditions.

The SPARK 50 5G also supports NFC-based Touch Transfer, allowing quick sharing of Live Photos and large files with iPhones.

In terms of design, the SPARK 50 5G comes in Ink Black, Titanium Grey, Fantasy Purple, Mint Green and Champagne Gold with Midnight Blue and Ripple Green in select markets. The SPARK 50 is offered in Dynamic Orange, Ink Black, Titanium Grey, Halo Blue, Aurora Purple and Flowery Pink.

The SPARK 50 5G is currently being rolled out in select markets, while the SPARK 50 is expected to be available from early April.
