Taural India, the Maharashtra-based aluminium casting manufacturer, in Supa, Maharashtra, has opened its second aluminium sand casting facility. With this new facility, the firm aims to expand its production beyond the first plant, which is located in Pune and contribute towards advancing the country’s aluminium manufacturing ecosystem. A total investment of INR 5 billion, with the expected capacity to grow up to 15 hundred tonnes.

The new facility spreads more than 30 acres and has been designed in a way that it meets the benchmark of global engineering and sustainability. This has been possible by incorporating digital process controls, the inclusion of automation and the advanced quality systems for producing complex and high-precision aluminium components. By including these components, the firm shall be catering to sectors like industrial infrastructure, defence, energy, marine, mobility and railways.
The plant will be producing customised aluminium casting components, which are deemed to weigh somewhere between 20 kg and 1000 kg. The firm is a joint venture between Thoni Alutec Group in Germany and Gitte and has been serving as a Tier I supplier to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). The facility, which is located in Pune, holds the capacity of 300 tonnes and has been supplying aluminium products to energy OEMs, including Hitachi Energy, GE, Siemens Energy, Toshiba, and Hyosung.
Particularly within the defence sector, the firm has been supplying components to L&T Defence and the Ordnance Factories for K9 Vajra Tanks and Sarath Infantry vehicles. Majorly, 18 per cent of the firm's production is being exported to Europe, Japan, the US and the Middle East.
Capacity enhancement
Serving both the domestic and international markets, the firm, with this new facility, is expected to enhance its overall capacity. Moreover, this project is also expected to bring in more employment opportunities in the country, with 22 hundred direct and other indirect jobs in areas like services, local supplier network and logistics.

Currently, the capacity enhancement has been done in order to boost the firm's turnover to INR 10 billion in the next five years. The current order rate will enhance the capacity to utilise nearly 60 per cent.
Owing to this project, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, at the inauguration, said, "Taural India’s journey stands as a powerful example of how Indian entrepreneurs can build globally competitive, world-class manufacturing enterprises rooted in innovation, partnerships, and purpose. Facilities such as Supa also support growth beyond metro cities and the state’s long-term economic ambitions."
On the other hand, the Founder and CEO of Taural India, Bharat Gite, commented, "The facility strengthens indigenous aluminium casting capability, creates skilled employment in regional markets and demonstrates that Indian enterprises can build high-precision manufacturing at global standards while contributing meaningfully to local communities."
MoU signed for the project
In order to set up the plant in Supa, the firm, in 2025, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This MoU marks a key step for the firm in decentralising the industrial growth in Tier II and Tier III regions.
