Dutch greenhouse technology specialist KUBO has announced a new course of action, planning to outsource steel production activities of KUBO Productive B.V. According to the company, changing market dynamics, widening the gap from global production costs, and evolving international competition have prompted a review of its manufacturing structure.
"The international market for greenhouse horticulture projects is changing rapidly. At the same time, differences in global production costs and market conditions are continuing to widen," KUBO stated, adding that the decision is aimed at future-proofing both its organisation and supply chain.

Zooming in on innovation and project delivery
Commenting on the development, CEO Wouter Kuiper regarded the company’s operational changes as maintaining competitiveness in a changing business environment.
“KUBO has always looked ahead and made choices that strengthen our position in the long term,” Kuiper mentioned, and added, “By reorganising our production, we are increasing our effectiveness, flexibility and focus on innovation.”
He emphasised that the restructuring would not affect customers, partners or ongoing projects, as KUBO continues to invest in “technology, engineering, project delivery and the development of sustainable solutions.”

Workforce impact and future goals
The restructuring plan is likely to impact about 30 employees. The company believes that it would manage the transition carefully and expressed appreciation for the dedication and craftsmanship of the workforce involved.
