The economy of Sweden is a developed export-oriented economy aided by timber, hydropower, and iron ore. Sweden, which avoided a lockdown during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, saw its economy shrink 8.6% in the April-to-June’20 period from the previous three months.
Kubal is Sweden's sole producer of primary aluminium and has a capacity of 134.000 tonnes. The Scandinavian nation’s bauxite importation during 2017-19, reflected a roller-coaster ride, as the total import recorded was 17,807 tonnes and foreign revenue expended stood at $6.50 million. The projected bauxite import for 2020 has been analysed at 7772 tonnes and expenditure to remain at $2.64 million. However, when the analysed import volume and expenditure of 2020 gets added to the existing three, it displays 25,579 tonnes and $9.14 million respectively.
In 2017, the bauxite import remained only at 1665 tonnes and expenditure stood at $0.54 million, whereas in 2018 the bauxite import soared up to 9532 tonnes, growth by 475.95% and the expenditure occurred for the import was recorded at $3.39 million.
Sweden’s bauxite import during 2019, exhibited downfall by 30.54%, as the import volume dropped to 6620 tonnes and the revenue expenditure also fell to $2.57 million.
Bauxite importation of Sweden for 2020 has been analysed with growth by 17.40%, as the import volume is expected to rise at 7772 tonnes and expenditures to outreach $2.64 million.
Sweden’s major trading nations for bauxite importation are Belgium, India, China, Denmark, Germany, Greece, India, UK, etc.
