State OKs permit for aluminum recycling landfill
The landfill would store salt cake, a recycling byproduct that emits toxic ammonia gas when it comes into contact with water. It would serve two Mount Pleasant aluminum recyclers, Tennessee Aluminum Processors Inc. and Smelter Services Corp.
The state Department of Environment and Conservation had been considering the landfill permit request since February.
