SPIROL releases Series CL600 & CL610 aluminum compression limiters

As more assemblies change from metal to plastic, Engineers struggle with methods of joining “metal to plastic” or “plastic to plastic” without cracking plastic components. Essentially, metal compression limiters provide “spot” or local reinforcement of plastic components in high-stress joints typically where components mate (so the main housing can be manufactured from lower cost plastic). Compression limiters absorb load generated from a bolt tightened to its recommended value. The plastic is isolated from excessive compressive loads ensuring that the joint remains intact throughout the life of the product. SPIROL offers several different types of compression limiters to meet specific application requirements and assembly methods. The company is replacing a line of machined brass Compression Limiters with this aluminum series for these advantages:

• Lightweight: Aluminum is 1/3 the weight of brass

• Strength: Extensive testing has proven that the aluminum and brass Compression Limiters have similar compressive strength

• Lead free: Even though SPIROL’s brass Compression Limiters meet the RoHS standard for lead content, the new aluminum Compression Limiters are lead free

• Cost savings: Aluminum Compression Limiters offer a reduction in cost over brass Limiters
