EDITED BY : 3MINS READ

Sparklo, a leading global cleantech company that uses AI to help reduce plastic and aluminium waste, has installed 100 of its innovative RVMs, known as Sparklomats, in public areas throughout the MENA region. This has resulted in the collection of 30,000 plastic bottles and aluminium cans daily in MENA alone, with a total of over 35 million collected recyclables worldwide.

At the core of Sparklo's business model is the creation and operation of its reverse vending machines, Sparklomats. These machines have been installed in parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar and allow people to easily recycle plastic bottles and aluminium cans. Users receive rewards in the mobile app by placing an empty bottle or can in the machine, which can then be exchanged for discount vouchers for food, delivery services, and other special offers.

Sparklo's commitment to sustainability and innovation has gained support from key industry leaders in the MENA region. With installations at retail chains, shopping centres, gas stations, and hotels, the company has begun operating in the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The Sparklomats are powered by AI-driven software that utilizes machine learning algorithms to optimize the recycling process. This technology helps to address the challenges of plastic and aluminium waste by accurately identifying and sorting recyclables, improving efficiency and reducing contamination.

Globally, Sparklo has collected 35.312.092 recyclables, including 26.715.093 plastic bottles and 8.596.999 aluminium cans, making a significant positive impact on the environment. In the UAE, where 4 billion plastic bottles are consumed annually, and 40% of all plastic is single-use, Sparklo aims to place thousands of recycling machines throughout MENA in the coming years.

The owner and CEO of Sparklo, Maxim Kaplevich, announced in a monologue: "I am honoured to introduce Sparklo in the MENA region on the eve of COP28 UAE and during the Year of Sustainability, as proclaimed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sparklo's global goal is to collect all the plastic bottles and every recyclable in the MENA region. We aim to revolutionize recycling and integrate it into the fabric of society's lifestyle by incorporating elements of education and entertainment. Therefore, our mission is to provide convenient access to Sparklomats for everyone, showing that recycling can be an engaging and rewarding experience."
