China's export of aluminium products has barely taken a backseat despite the worldwide hue and cry over aluminium makers losing their markets to the China onslaughts. Time and again various industry bodies have voiced their concern over the alleged ‘non-competitive’ trade initiatives that China is taking resort to; but that has hardly had any effect on the exports. Given the rising capacity addition in the country along with old capacity restarts, it is very obvious that the excess output will go out of the country to the international markets after meeting domestic demand. The restraint which the Chinese government and aluminium makers should have shown in dealing with the capacity rise and overflow of aluminium products, however, has not been there.

{alcircleadd}China’s export of aluminium structures has soared significantly from 383689.39 tonnes in 2014 to an estimated total of 658242.36 tonnes in 2016. In 2015, the country exported 632336.82 tonnes of aluminium structures. From 2014 till 2016, the change has been a gigantic 71.55 per cent. The following graph clearly reflects the year-over-year change of aluminium structures export from China:
Value-wise too, China’s aluminium structures exports have grown over the last three years. In 2015, China shipped aluminium structures worth US$2.66 million, up 76.15 per cent from 2014 when the figure stood at US$1.51 million. In 2016, the total export value of aluminium structures from China is estimated to reach US$2.79 million, a 4.88 per cent increase from the previous fiscal and a significant leap of 84.76 per cent from 2014.
The U.S. Department of Commerce is reportedly investigating several cases of alleged import tariffs evasion by the Chinese companies. The China Non-ferrous Metals Fabrication Industrial Association has, however, reacted strongly against these allegations. According to China's customs data, the country exported only 1.07 million tonnes of aluminium products including bars, sections and strips to Mexico between 2001 and 2015.
