Runaya is expanding its critical metals production operations in Rajasthan with new capacities planned for cobalt, cadmium and copper alongside other base metal products.
{alcircleadd}The company, backed by Vedanta, said the expansion is being developed at its Zinc Industrial Park facility in Rajasthan as part of a broader effort to strengthen domestic production of materials linked to energy transition and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Runaya currently operates facilities with installed production capacity of more than 70,000 tonnes per year, focused on recovering metals from industrial residues through circular economy and waste-to-wealth processes.

According to the company, the latest expansion is intended to help build a larger critical metals manufacturing ecosystem within India while also supporting local employment generation.
The company said cobalt, cadmium and copper are becoming increasingly important for sectors such as electric vehicles, battery storage, renewable energy infrastructure, electronics, power systems and data centres.
Runaya added that expanding domestic processing capacity could help reduce India’s dependence on imported critical minerals and support long-term supply security for strategic industries.
