RSB's Alumina project faces public protest in Orissa's Rayagada district

Rayagada seems to become the bauxite war zone again with tribals rising against RSB Metaltech's proposed refinery project in Kalyansinghpur Block. The tribal people expressed their anguish on 27 October 2011 by ransacking the public hearing camp in the proposed project area.
The tribal community members living in the proposed project area came in mass and stopped the public hearing by ransacking the camp. Public hearing was being conducted in the presence of officials from district administration and state police. The agitated tribal people said that no land or forest can be spared for the industry.
RSB Metaltech has signed an MoU with government of Orissa in December 2008 for mining and alumina smelter project worth 9000 crore rupees in Orissa’s Rayagada and Dhenkanal Districts.
