Rio Tinto updates aluminum production on H1 2011

The expansion of the Yarwun alumina refinery in Queensland from 1.4 million tonnes to 3.4 million tonnes per annum is proceeding on schedule with first bauxite to be processed through the expanded plant in mid 2012. The expansion will improve cost efficiency for the entire refinery and is expected to move Rio Tinto Alcan’s position further down the alumina industry cost curve.
