The Industrial Demonstration Program, funded by President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, will concentrate on the industries with the highest emissions where decarbonization technologies will have the biggest impact, such as aluminium, cement and concrete, iron and steel, and other energy-intensive industrial processes. The White House convened a roundtable conversation on industrial innovation, decarbonization, and how America must advance the global clean energy economy on Friday, March 4, with senior private sector CEOs and labour leaders.

According to the Shanghai Metals Market, China’s domestic A00 aluminium ingot price had plummeted by RMB 230 per tonne on March 10, following a dip of RMB 10 per tonne last day. Thus, the price has closed the week at RMB 18,230 per tonne, recording a week-on-week fall of RMB 320 per tonne or 1.73 per cent from RMB 18,550 per tonne.

On March 9, Thursday, the LME aluminium cash bid price slightly rose by US$2 per tonne or 0.09 per cent to clock at US$2,290 per tonne, and the LME aluminium official settlement price escalated by US$2.50 per tonne or 0.11 per cent, officially settling at US$2,291 per tonne.

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) published its financial and operational results for 2022, reporting a record revenue of AED 34.6 billion ($9.4 billion), up by 36 per cent from AED 25.5 billion ($6.9 billion) in 2021. According to Marubeni Corp, a major Japanese integrated trading and investment business conglomerate, global aluminium producers have mutually agreed to propose $125-145 per tonne of premiums to Japanese buyers for the second quarter of 2023. The news came on March 6 after five sources directly involved in quarterly pricing talks said.

Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2023

 Hydro is on the way to initiate a new development phase of its one-of-a-kind production technology -HalZero, a brand new process for primary aluminium production. With the Norwegian government's support, the company will invest in a test facility, hoping the technology will help deliver pilot production of zero-carbon primary aluminium by 2030.
