Aluminium Stewardship Initiative awards PT Inalum (Persero) the Performance Standard certificate or ASI V3(2022) for its aluminium smelters in Batu Bara Regency, Kuala Tanjung and North Sumatra province, Indonesia.

M Jufri, the Public Relations officer at Inalum, exclaimed that the ASI certification programme had evolved out of an intensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the globally accepted summarised sustainability standard crafted for the entire aluminium value chain.
M Jufri went on to make a clear statement: "This is the first certification issued for a performance standard or ASI V3 (2022), which was updated and launched in May 2022 after going through a revision process for several years."
The ASI Certification Standard points out 11 principles and 62 criteria divided under three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social and Government that encompass multiple issues, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples' rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
PT Inalum's independent company audit was conducted by a third-party service provider, TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
"ASI certification is proof that Inalum is an environmentally friendly producer. So apart from maintaining the company's reputation and the efforts of its predecessors to register the Inalum brand on LME," Jufri mentioned.
Inalum practically produces aluminium billets, aluminium ingots and aluminium alloy with a complete production ability of 250,000 tonnes per annum. Jufri thus claimed the company is capable of getting financial contributions if it continues exporting to countries with a demand for low-carbon products.
The Senior Executive Vice President of Operations and Production of Inalum, Rainaldy Harahap, praised PT Inalum as a portion of MIND ID, BUMN Mining Industry Holding, for successfully getting registered for the ASI Performance Standard Certificate. This certification validates the company on an international scale and is very beneficial for its own growth.
