
In Russia & Eastern Europe, primary aluminium production during March 2023 stood at 343,000 tonnes, reflecting an increase of 10.65 per cent or 33,000 tonnes month-on-month from 310,000 tonnes. Russia & Eastern Europe witnessed a hike in March following M-o-M downfall of 9.88 per cent in the previous month from 344,000 tonnes, showed the International Aluminium Institute.

However, on a year-on-year calculation, Russia & Eastern Europe’s primary aluminium production in March’23 edged a fall of 7,000 tonnes or 2 per cent from 350,000 tonnes.
During the first quarter of 2023, ended March 31, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe amounted to 997,000 tonnes, down by 2.25 per cent from 1.02 million tonnes in Q4 2022 ended December 31.
On an annual basis, Russia & Eastern Europe’s primary aluminium in 1Q2023 also recorded a fall of 1.58 per cent from 1.013 million tonnes.
In March 2023, Russia & Eastern Europe’s daily average production of primary aluminium stood at 11,100 tonnes, slightly down from 11,300 tonnes a year ago.
In Western & Central Europe, primary aluminium production during March 2023 amounted to 230,000 tonnes, up by 21,000 tonnes or 10.05 per cent from 209,000 tonnes in February. But on a year-on-year basis, the output decreased by 9.09 per cent from 253,000 tonnes.
In Q1 2023, primary aluminium production in Western & Central Europe totalled 669,000 tonnes, down by 3.32 per cent from 692,000 tonnes in Q4 2022 and 10.20 per cent from 745,000 tonnes in Q1 2022.
In March 2023, daily average primary aluminium output in Western & Central Europe was 7,400 tonnes compared to 7,500 tonnes a month ago and 8,200 tonnes a year earlier.
