SMM aluminium ingot price gains pace mid-July with RMB210/t influx; China’s alumina spot price rises RMB4/t

According to the Shanghai Metal Market, today, on July 13, China’s aluminium ingot price has skyrocketed by RMB 210 per tonne to officially settle at RMB 18,440 per tonne, with average prices ranging between RMB 18,420 per tonne and RMB 18,460 per tonne.

At the beginning of July, China’s aluminium spot price was quite close to what it is today. On July 4, SMM aluminium price was RMB 18,540 per tonne, which drastically fell by RMB 310 per tonne or 1.67 per cent over the two weeks to reach RMB 18,230 per tonne yesterday.

China’s central provinces have all experienced an influx in aluminium spot prices today, with only one exception in Linyi, where it has fallen by RMB 20 per tonne to stop at RMB 18,180 per tonne. The maximum rise of RMB 230 per tonne in aluminium prices was witnessed in Wuxi and Hangzhou, where the spot prices locked at RMB 18,440 per tonne each. In Shenyang, the aluminium spot price has gained RMB 190 per tonne to close at RMB 18,380 per tonne, followed by RMB 170 per tonne augmentation in Gongyi and Chongqing, where the prices stood at RMB 18,340 per tonne and RMB 18,420 per tonne, respectively. In Tianjin and Foshan, the aluminium spot prices have spiked by RMB 160 per tonne to clock at RMB 18,390 per tonne and RMB 18,430 per tonne.

The average alumina spot price in China has jumped RMB 4 per tonne up the index to rest at RMB 2,831 per tonne, followed by RMB 5 per tonne increase in Shanxi to close at RMB 2,825 per tonne. In Guangxi, the alumina price has hiked by RMB 10 per tonne to settle at RMB 2,825 per tonne. Only the Australian alumina FOB price has dropped RMB 7.15 per tonne to officially anchor at RMB 2,338.93 per tonne.

The price of high-purity aluminium (99.99%) and the price of high-purity aluminium (99.996%) have both levelled up by RMB 200 per tonne, officially closing at RMB 26,000 per tonne and RMB 27,000 per tonne.

The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has augmented by RMB 200 per tonne to clock at RMB 19,150 per tonne, while the price of aluminium alloy (A360) has also gained RMB 200 per tonne, anchoring at RMB 19,550 per tonne. The price of aluminium alloys (ADC12) has gone up the graph by RMB 150 per tonne to pause at RMB 18,600 per tonne.

The price of aluminium powder in China has risen by RMB 0.20 per kg to close at RMB 20.30 per kg, with average prices circulating between RMB 20.20 per kg and RMB 20.40 per kg.
