Novelis appoints H.R. Shashikant senior vice president and chief human resources officer

Novelis, the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today announced the appointment of H.R. Shashikant to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, effective immediately.

Shashikant was previously Group Executive President, Group Human Resources, for the Aditya Birla Group (ABG), the Mumbai-based conglomerate of which Novelis is a part. In his new role, Shashikant will be based at Novelis' global headquarters in Atlanta.

"We are very pleased to have 'Shashi' join the Novelis team," said Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Fisher. "He brings a wealth of experience in talent management, leadership development and HR practices, and I am confident he will play an important role in helping Novelis to continue its growth and achieve its business goals."

In his 29-year career, Shashikant has held progressively senior human resources leadership roles in a number of global organizations. He joined ABG as a Vice President in 1999 and was instrumental in setting up human resources systems, processes and Centers of Excellence across the Group. In 2013, Shashikant received ABG's Outstanding Leader award.

An Economics graduate from Karnataka University in Dharwad, India, Shashikant holds a post graduate degree in Personnel Management from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He has also been certified in Organizational Development by the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Shashikant succeeds Leslie W. Joyce, Ph.D., who has left Novelis to pursue other career opportunities. "I want to thank Leslie for her contributions to Novelis," said Fisher. "She was an important partner in the growth of the company, helping to attract some of the world's best talent, creating our talent management program and aligning the global HR function to support our growing business.
