The world is celebrating its first-ever 'World EV Day' on September 9, and to commemorate the occasion, Nissan has announced a major milestone of producing its 500,000th Nissan LEAF, the world’s first mass-market 100 per cent electric car. With half billion LEAF built globally, customers around the world continue to embrace the pioneering zero-emission vehicle.

The 500,000th LEAF is being built at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland, England, which so far has built more than 175,000 LEAF cars since it began producing the model in 2013.
Continued to be crafted with the highest standards to ensure the car embodies the same innovation, the 500,000 LEAF has found its happy owner Maria Jansen from Norway.
The Nissan Australia Casting Plant (NCAP) continues to produce 2.5 million metal casting per year in Victoria, including critical components to support Nissan’s global EV production requirements. The die casting plant delivers a range of aluminium die-cast components for every Nissan LEAF produced worldwide, including the model stator house.
The LEAF offers advanced technologies to ensure safety, including the award-winning ProPILOT – a “hands-on, eyes-on” system that allows the car to stop, restart and stay centered in its lane – and e-Pedal technology for one-pedal driving.
LEAF also helps prevent CO2 emissions. LEAF owners around the world have helped prevent more than 2.4 billion kilograms of emissions.
