
The analysis report generated by ING in August 2021, unfolded that the GDP of the Netherlands is inflated by 3.1% in Q2 2021 compared to the preceding quarter, following a quarter of mild decline (-0.8%). The significant dip in the number of new Covid-19 cases per day and falling hospitalisation numbers have driven the persuasion of the step-by-step withdrawal of social distancing measures in the second quarter. However, most activities were permitted again at the start of the summer, although some restrictions remain. Offline retail, bars & restaurants, and events benefitted noticeably, coinciding with a growth of household consumption of 5.7% quarter-on-quarter in 2Q21.

Aluminium is highly accepted in the food industry in the form of aluminium containers and others. It provides a total barrier to light, moisture and aroma. Hence, it extends the shelf life of foodstuffs, care products or medicines. Nowadays, it is found in every conceivable market, comprising sterile beverage cartons, sachets, pouches, lids, wrappers, blister and strip packs and foil containers.
The leading expensive nation in the European Union as per Eurostat, Netherlands imported 2297 tonnes of aluminium containers during 2018-20 and the revenue expended for the import was accounted for $19.46 million.

In 2018, Netherlands imported 607 tonnes of aluminium containers and expended $4.13 million for the import, whereas, in 2019, the import escalated by 92.91%, as the import volume grew to 1171 tonnes and the expenditure climbed to $8.40 million.
The country’s import of aluminium containers in 2020 was recorded at 519 tonnes, a downfall of 55.67% and the expenditure reduced to $6.93 million.
Netherlands import of aluminium containers for 2021 has been analysed with a further plunge by 37.76%, as the import volume is expected to remain at 323 tonnes, while the expenditure to stand at $5.25 million.
The Netherlands is one of the largest food exporters and its major trading destinations for the importation of aluminium containers are Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Turkey, UAE, etc.
