On May 23, the National Power Investment Corporation hosted the "World Class" Aluminum Industry Construction Symposium in Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The event was attended by officials from the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC).
Other important delegates, such as the director of safety and head of the Ministry of Basic Industry, the Chairman, and the Party Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Company, attended the meeting. Special importance was given to establishing a "world-class" aluminium industry.
They also highlighted the importance of seizing opportunities to transform and upgrade traditional industries. Officials also called for a comprehensive promotion of the efficient use of aluminium resources, optimising and enhancing the aluminium industry ecosystem, and ensuring the sustainable development of enterprises.
Prioritising clean and low-carbon development
The meeting also discussed prioritising clean and low-carbon development within the aluminium industry. There was an excellent urge for an increased proportion of green electricity and advocacy for the transformation and upgrading of both green electricity and aluminium production. Special attention was given to the necessity of focusing on personnel training, utilising internal and external resources effectively, and enhancing the recruitment and development of professional talent. By leveraging the skills of high-level technical personnel, the goal is to contribute significantly to the high-quality development of the aluminium industry.
"It is necessary to strengthen the quality control of the aluminum industry with advanced technology and innovative means, and do a good job in the quality control of the whole life cycle of project design, engineering construction, production operation and maintenance. We should attach great importance to production safety and ecological environmental protection, use science and technology and management means to break barriers to achieve intrinsic safety, and strictly implement national requirements to prevent excessive emission of pollutants. It is necessary to do a good job in the information and intelligent management of the aluminium industry, strengthen the construction of the training system for safety, technology and management capabilities, and make good use of the horse racing mechanism to lay a solid foundation for the national power investment to build a "world-class" aluminium industry goal," said the industry officials from SPIC.
In his speech, Wang Weiguang highlighted the recent achievements of the Inner Mongolia Company across various domains, including transformation and development, production and operations, party building, and the transformation and upgrading of the aluminium industry. He also discussed the company's efforts in capacity expansion and other significant developments in recent years.
Visit to the workshops
Prior to the meeting, participants visited the Baiyin Hua aluminium electricity production workshop of the Inner Mongolia Company. Experts from Northeastern University presented the latest advancements in aluminium industry technology and offered recommendations for developing a world-class aluminium industry.

Representatives from four second-level units—Inner Mongolia Company, Yellow River Company, Aluminum Power Company, and Qinghai Province Investment—along with seven third-level units, including Baiyin Hua Aluminum Power Company, Huo Mei Hongjun Aluminum Power Company, and Yellow River Xinye Company, delivered special speeches. Group aluminium experts also engaged in discussions and exchanges focused on advancing the first-class aluminium industry.
Representatives from the Power Collaborative Industry Innovation Centre, National Power Investment aluminium experts, and department heads from related second- and third-level aluminium units were also present.
