
Nalco CMD TK Chand said that the company will dedicate three major projects to the nation on its foundation day celebration on 5th January. The three projects include South Block Bauxite Mines, Panchpatmali, Odisha, 18.5 MW Turbo Generator at Alumina Refinery, Damanjodi and Nano Technology based Defluoridation Plant at Smelter, Angul.
With a project cost of INR 600 crore, South Block Bauxite Mines has a capacity to produce 3.15 million tonnes per annum. The bauxite mine will help the company to increase its production capacity.

The projects will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Mines Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
“The company will also sign MoU with the National Skill Development Corporation in presence of Union minister of skill development Dharmendra Pradhan to set up the Institute of Skill Development, which will impart training to the employable youth to make them industry-ready," he said.
While speaking about the performance of Nalco in 2017, he said that the company has achieved 100 per cent utilisation of bauxite mines and 100 per cent normative capacity of alumina refinery.
