Piyush Goyal, India's Union Mines Secretary, has shared his thoughts considering the need for timeliness in completing any expansion projects, pushing up the production targets and making structured improvements in the overall operational efficiency during a review of National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO)’s ongoing expansion programs and overall performance on Wednesday.

NALCO, a firm that is already a key player within the Indian bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminium production sectors, is looking to increase its capacities to meet the growing domestic demand from sectors like electric vehicles, renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

Goyal further commended NALCO for its impressive achievements and strong performance across essential physical and financial metrics, while encouraging all stakeholders to keep raising the bar in every aspect of their operations.
Previously, the Union Mines Secretary also met with Manoj Ahuja, the Chief Secretary of India, along with other high-ranking officials from the state government. That discussion concluded different ways to speed up the firm’s expansion efforts at its mining and refinery site in Damanjodi, as well as its smelter and power facility in Angul.
In addition to this, Goyal also undertook a review meeting with senior officials from the state government and the preferred bidders to evaluate how the auctioned major mineral blocks are being put into operation.
