MHM Metals gets salt slag deal

MHM Metals Ltd's (MHM) shares shot up after it signed a contract for at least 1,500 tonnes a month of aluminium oxide off-take for its aluminium salt slag processing business.

The resources company, formerly known as Macquarie Harbour Mining, says its new deal with Impex Minerals Pty Ltd to take the off take of its aluminium oxide product, AL80, is a major event for the global aluminium industry.

Salt slag is a waste product generated by the aluminium industry and MHM uses technology to separate it into aluminium metal, aluminium oxide and a salt-and-potassium chloride blend.

The waste product has traditionally been disposed of as landfill, but MHM says its technology eliminates that, helping the environment.
