LME aluminium price drops further to $3,262.5/t on September 21; stocks hold steady

The London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminium price graph dropped further on September 21 across all the pricing segments of cash and contracts. The aluminium opening stocks, however, remained steady.
The LME aluminium cash bid price shifted from USD 3,283 per tonne on September 18 to USD 3,261.5 per tonne on September 21, down 0.65 per cent. The LME aluminium cash offer price dipped from USD 3,285 per tonne to USD 3,262.5 per tonne, easing by 0.68 per cent day-on-day.

The LME aluminium three-month bid and offer prices reported a 0.27 per cent decline. The bid closed at USD 3,272.5 per tonne, compared to USD 3,281.5 per tonne the previous session. The three-month offer price slipped to USD 3,273 per tonne from USD 3,282 per tonne.
Further along the downward curve, the December 27 bid and offer prices plunged by 0.38 per cent. The bid dropped from USD 3,195 per tonne to USD 3,183 per tonne, and the offer contracted from USD 3,200 per tonne to USD 3,188 per tonne.

The LME aluminium three-month Asian Reference Price on September 21 closed at USD 3,267 per tonne, marking a 0.65 per cent slip from USD 3,288.5 per tonne recorded on September 18.
LME aluminium opening stock held steady at 242,600 tonnes on September 21.
Live warrants, too, remained unchanged at 238,475 tonnes.
Conversely, cancelled warrants fell from 4,125 tonnes to 3,725 tonnes from 4,000 reporting a 9.7 per cent drop.
The LME alumina Platts price continued to edge downwards to USD 354.45 per tonne from USD 355.6 per tonne, a dip of 0.32 per cent.
