LAND RoverSdn Bhd, a member of Sime Darby Group, aims to sell about 50 units of its all-new, all-aluminium 2013 Range Rover this year.

Managing director Syed Mudzhar Syed Ali said the company is optimistic of achieving the target due to the encouraging response it has received so far.

Speaking at a news conference after the launch of the new model on Thursday, Syed Mudzhar said seven units from the existing stock of 19 units had already been booked during an earlier private viewing.

Also present was Jaguar Land Rover Australia regional sales manager for Asia Pacific importers, Tom Dickin.

The world's first premium sports utility vehicle with an all-aluminium monocoque body comes in two engine choices - LR-V8 supercharged petrol and LR-SDV8 turbocharged diesel, both mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The aluminium monocoque structure is 39 per cent lighter than the steel body used in the outgoing model. It is combined with weight savings throughout the chassis and driveline.

This lightweight construction is among a host of weight-saving measures that enable a weight reduction of up to 350 kg model-for-model compared with its predecessor.

The all-new 2013 Range Rover is priced at RM949,888 for the LR-SDV8 and RM1,089,888 for the supercharged LR-V8 on the road, excluding insurance.
