Kentucky aluminum manufacturer to make larger wheels
The company got a boost recently when the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved $1 million in state tax incentives for CMWA to purchase equipment for the project at its Paris, Kentucky plant.
The size of the wheels has become bigger and it's reduced some of our capacity, Polzin said in an interview. The project "will allow us to get back to where we were a half-year ago ... the equipment will allow us to make larger wheels," he said.
Polzin, who declined to release capacity figures, said the project is expected to be completed sometime this year. KEDFA is giving the company a three-year window to take advantage of the incentives.
CMWA is being required by the state to create more jobs, but the company must maintain 90% of the existing 405 jobs at the Paris plant in Bourbon County.
