The demand for aluminium goods is increasing steadily due to its positive contribution to modern living. The metal aluminium is the second most extensively used metal whereas the aluminium can is the most recycled consumer product in the world. The exceptional recyclability of aluminium, jointly with its high scrap value and low energy requirement during recycling make aluminium highly desirable to one and all.

Ireland’s export of aluminium scrap

Ireland, one of the wealthiest countries in the OECD and the EU-27 exported 99,774 tonnes of aluminium scrap during 2019-21, incurring revenue earnings of 68.44 million from the export.

In 2019, the Irish export of aluminium scrap was documented at 24,870 tonnes, counting earnings of $21.98 million, whereas, in 2020, the export exhibited growth by 43.59%, as the export volume surged to 35,712 tonnes, while the earnings dropped to $20.61 million.

The export for 2021 was registered with further growth of 9.74%, as the export volume climbed to 39,192, accounting for earnings of around $25.85 million.

World Recycled aluminium market analysis

The aluminium scrap export for 2022 is analysed with a downfall by 8.82%, as the export volume is predicted to drop at 35,733 tonnes and the earnings also to stand at $18.31 million.

Ireland’s major trading destinations for the export of aluminium scrap are Austria, China, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, UK, etc.
