
According to the US Geological Survey data for July 2020, India’s aluminium crude metal and alloys exports to the US increased by 127 per cent month-on-month. From 5,150 tonnes in June, India’s exports jumped to 11,700 tonnes in July, shows the data. In May, India’s aluminium crude metal and alloys exports to the US fell sharply by 81 per cent month-on-month from 23,000 tonnes to 4,380 tonnes. However, from June the exports started hiking by 17.58 per cent M-o-M.

Year-on-year, India’s aluminium crude metal and alloys exports to the US recorded a hike of 84 per cent from 6,360 tonnes.
In the first seven months of the year, India’s total aluminium crude metal and alloys exports to the US stood at 73,000 tonnes, down by 34.23 per cent from 111,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
India stood as the second-highest exporter of aluminium crude metal and alloys to the US in July 2020. The highest exporter was Canada supplying 206,000 tonnes of semis.
The United States total aluminium crude metal and alloys imports in July 2020 came in at 253,000 tonnes, down by 3.44 per cent from 262,000 tonnes M-o-M but up by 177.41 per cent from 91,200 tonnes Y-o-Y.
