Hydro Aluminum to add fabrication capabilities to its Phoenix plant

The company said it wanted to improve overall service to its North American customers and this expansion is the final step in that plan for 2012.
Among the changes in Phoenix, the company has dedicated 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space to fabrication and doubled its number of engineers for customer and operational support. The integration of new operations will be complete by year end, the company said.
Once the new operations are brought online, it will allow for the addition of 45 new jobs. Hydro employs more than 200 people in Phoenix, handling extrusion, drawn tube and aluminum remelt activities.
"We want to grow, and this shows that our customers appreciate the work we do for them," says Mike Stier, head of Hydro's west region extrusion business.
