A few hours before the official announcement of a two-week ceasefire in the US-Israel and Iran conflict, the Iranian media reported that the US-Israel launched strikes on the Iran Aluminium Company (IRALCO), the largest aluminium plant of the country, as well as the Amirkabir Petrochemical Complex in Mahshahr.
{alcircleadd}The facilities have been struck as the US President Donald Trump’s assigned deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz without any official agreement was not observed by the Iranian government.

Located in Arak, central Iran, the Iran Aluminium Company (IRALCO), the country’s largest aluminium production hub, had a production capacity of 160 thousand to 200 thousand tonnes per year.
Aluminium, playing a key role in the defence and manufacturing sectors, has now brought the country to a critical juncture with its largest smelter’s production compromised.
The Amirkabir Petrochemical Complex, located in Mahshahr, lies in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. The Deputy Governor stated that on April 7, around 11:40 PM local time (8:10 PM GMT), the petrochemical complex was hit in an aerial strike.
Although the facilities have sustained hits, the administration has not reported any casualties in the strikes.
Moving beyond the military, transport and energy sectors, major industrial hubs of the country are being selected as the next targets for attack in order to incapacitate the strategic production sites, making Iran falter in its line of defence.
The attacks come after over a week since March 28, when the drone and missile strikes launched by Iran hit the aluminium smelters of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) in the UAE and of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba).
