The Fergus Curling Club is launching a multi-stage fundraising campaign to replace the ice-making equipment and concrete pad. The first stage of our fundraising drive, ABC's 4 FCC, begins on June 21. Under this, the club requests people to save their aluminium cans, bottles and other recyclable items. These goods may be deposited in a bin at the curling club to promote sustainability and recycling.

ABC stands for Aluminium, Bottles and Cans/Cash/Coins. The chilled floor was erected in the 1950s when low and high locations were unimportant. According to a press release, fluctuations in the floor level result in thicker and thinner patches of ice all throughout, resulting in considerable increases in electricity, water, and labour expenditures.
Levelling the surface will enable the ice maker to better regulate the temperature of the playing surface, lower the amount of water, energy, and time necessary to maintain a quicker surface, has more curl, and delivers a more fun game for everyone - and compete with the greatest rinks in the nation. There will also be monthly aluminium bottle drives where volunteers will be at the club on specific days to receive contributions of empty containers.
Aluminium cans are more recyclable than other forms of packaging and can be created with a more significant proportion of recycled metal. Because it is durable, stackable, and lightweight, businesses can send more drinks while reducing their environmental impact. Aluminium can recycling saves 95% of the energy necessary to produce the same quantity of aluminium from its virgin source.
