EDITED BY : 4MINS READ

The Egyptian market welcomed back Technal®, the French brand at the “Technal® World: Sustainability and Building Envelopes" conference held in Cairo this week, to mark the launch of Hydro CIRCAL. With a range of excellent and unique products and collaborations, Technal® is a pioneer provider of aluminium for doors, windows, and building facades in the Egyptian market.

"We announced the launch of our latest product Hydro CIRCAL, in Egypt today, the world’s first certified minimum 75% post-consumer recycled Aluminum for doors windows and building facades,” said Sam Robinson, the managing director at Hydro Building Systems for the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia.

Zaha Hadid Architects from London, Mohamed Talaat - MT Architects from Egypt, Koltay Facades from Dubai, Front from the United States, and the Egypt Green Building Council were among the foreign engineering and architectural firms that attended the conference. AGC Obiekan for Glass, Sphinx Glass, Siderise Insulation UK, Jotun, Viva, and Kuraray all supported the event.

The conference was attended by representatives from the French Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, the American Institute of Architects Egypt chapter, and the Society of Façade Engineers UK, as well as a large number of Egyptian, regional, and international construction and reconstruction companies, as well as experts, engineers, university professors, and government officials.

Hydro CIRCAL manufacturing, according to Robinson, decreases carbon emissions by 75 percent and energy usage by 95 percent when compared to traditional bauxite mining and refining at no additional expense. Robinson commended Egypt's building, development, and construction march, saying it demonstrates that Egypt is serious about climate change and sustainability.

Robinson also stated that Technal® is working with local partners to establish the needs of the Egyptian market to customise its approach to meet those needs and that Technal® would roll out its goods in response to those demands.

"This prompted "Technal®" to hold its fifth conference, which will focus on sustainability and building facades, as part of Egypt's interest in this important topic and as part of the country's preparations to host the COP 27 Climate Summit in Sharm elSheikh later this year," added Robinson

The business is also working on many projects in Egypt, including the New Magdy Yacoub hospital in the 6th of October city, one of the Alamain buildings, the new Giza university headquarters, and the new offices of the "El Arabi" group in Cairo, according to Sam Robinson.

Robinson went on to say that the Magdy Yacoub hospital project would feature "Hydro CIRCAL" windows, doors, and facades, which means that this project alone will cut carbon emissions by 776 megatons, which is the equivalent to 776 trees cleaning the air we breathe for 80 years at no additional cost.

“This is the right and responsible choice that expresses how Egypt talks and works at the same time to save and protect the environment and resources” stated Robinson.

Haby Yaqob, Sales Manager for Egypt, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, remarked that "Technal®" technology supplies the Egyptian market with numerous creative and dynamic options. The market for European Aluminium systems in Egypt exceeds €30 million per year, and Technal® hopes to gain a 10% market share by 2025, says Haby Yaqob.

He also addressed the importance of sustainability in buildings by stating that while the initial cost of such structures may be 5-10% more, the ongoing expenditures are significantly lower, and the savings on maintenance, depreciation, and energy bills mount up every day the structure is in use.

World Recycled Aluminium Market Analysis

According to Mohamed Talaat, one of the prominent architects who spoke at the conference, there are 13 factors of sustainability that must be considered to decrease operating expenses and resource waste. Talaat went on to explain that architecture expresses the country's and civilization's identity even after hundreds of years and that this goes beyond aesthetics to include sustainability, green building, utility, and inventiveness.
