Solar panels aren't just shiny rooftop add-ons anymore—they're silent powerhouses turning sunlight into serious savings and sustainability. And now, the Cardiff-based aluminium fabricator Dudley's Aluminium along with Inspire Green, a South Wales-based renewable energy company, is powering up for a greener future.
Together, they aim to install 192 high-efficiency solar panels and solar-powered EV charging stations on Dudley's production facility in Cardiff. This will help the company cut down on emissions and energy costs.
Josh Powell, founder of Inspire Green, said, "We're incredibly proud to support a local business like Dudley's Aluminium on their net zero journey and to play our part in building a more sustainable future."
With this system in place, Dudley's Aluminium is set to reduce its electricity-related emissions by 77 per cent and cover around 60 per cent of the site's power needs, taking a big step towards cleaner, more sustainable operations.
Pablo Shorney, finance director of Dudley's Aluminium, said, "As part of a carbon-intensive sector, it is vital that we take steps to reduce our emissions and manufacture our solutions sustainably. In addition to complying with green requirements within the supply chain and working on projects targeting excellent sustainability standards, we are proactively decarbonising our operations through a range of measures. It has been great to work with Inspire Green on the successful solar installation on site which will make a significant impact on our journey to net zero."
The installation contributes to the fabricator's Net Zero goals by reducing CO₂ emissions by 17.15 tonnes each year. This initiative builds on the 2024 rollout of hybrid company vehicles, implemented under the fabricator's broader corporate carbon reduction strategy.
