CBG operates mines in the area of Sangarédi in the north-western part of the Republic of Guinea. It produces and exports over 16 million tonnes of higher-grade bauxite per year to industries like aeronautics, automobile, electricity, packaging, and construction. CBG aligns its practices with some of the highest standards in the world in terms of health, safety, environmental and social standards, notably with those of the International Financial Company (IFC).

Since the time CBG started its operations in 1973, it contributed more than US$ 5 billion to the revenues of the Guinean State. Since 2016, it has invested close to a billion dollars in its projects to modernise its assets and to expand its production capacity.

Souleymane Traoré – General Manager of Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée, said: “As reflected in its values and its vision, Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) places great emphasis on community issues, good governance and the protection of the environment. Therefore, supported by its shareholders, CBG is committed to the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard certification process.”
