China’s imports of aluminium ores and concentrates slip 15.7% to 9.25 million tonnes in July 2021

According to China Customs data, imports of aluminium ores and concentrates shrank by 15.7 per cent year-on-year in July 2021 to stand at 9.25 million tonnes. That brought the total imports of aluminium ores and concentrates in the first seven months of 2021 to 64.41 million tonnes, down by 7.1 per cent from a year ago.

Imports of alumina in July were 50,000 tonnes, up 1939.8 per cent year-on-year. But cumulative imports of alumina year-to-date stood 7.2 per cent lower at 90,000 tonnes.

China customs data also found the country’s imports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products in July amounted to 312,086 tonnes, which was a decrease of 20.2 per cent year-on-year.

However, on year-on-year calculation, total imports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products in the first seven months of the year increased by 47 per cent to 1,774,859 tonnes, showed customs data.
