China’s aluminium inventory drops further to 1.59MT; A00 ingot price continues downward trend

As reported by Shanghai Metals Market, China's inventory of primary aluminium across major consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, shrank 33,000 tonnes from last Thursday to stand at 1.59 million tonne as of Thursday September 27. Inventories once again recorded a decline as downstream consumers stockpiled ahead of the week-long National Day holiday and limited materials arrived at the warehouses.

In Wuxi and Jiangsu, the inventory dropped from 699,000 tonnes, as of September 20, to 686,000 tonnes on September 27; in Shanghai, the inventory dropped from 371,000 tonnes, to 363,000 tonnes; in Gongyi and Henan, the inventory stood at 138,000 tonnes on September 27, from 147,000 tonnes on September 20.

The current inventory status in the major Chinese cities is as follows: 

The A00 aluminium ingot price witnessed a further drop on Thursday, 27 September 2018. A00 ingot price declined RMB 100 per tonne to RMB 14430 per tonne today. The average prices today are expected to range between RMB 14410 per tonne and RMB 14450 per tonne, with spot discounts to settle at RMB 50 to RMB 10 per tonne.

All the major markets in China continued downward trend. In the east market, the price declined by RMB 100 per tonne to stand at RMB 14425 per tonne. The price is expected to range between RMB 14420 per tonne and RMB 14430 per tonne today.

In the south and north, the prices fell by RMB 110 per tonne and RMB 95 per tonne to stand at RMB 14540 per tonne and RMB 14460 per tonne, respectively. In south, the price is expected to range between RMB 14520 per tonne and RMB 14560 per tonne today; in north, the price is expected to range between RMB 14450 per tonne and RMB 14470 per tonne.
