China’s A00 aluminium ingot price declines by RMB90/t; High purity aluminium price also loses RMB100/t

A00 aluminium ingot price has again decreased on alternate day by RMB 90 per tonne to stand at RMB 20,420 per tonne, as recorded by the Shanghai Metals Market on Tuesday, May 17. The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 20,400 per tonne and RMB 20,440 per tonne, with spot contracts to be traded at a discount price of RMB 20 per tonne and a premium price of RMB 20 per tonne.

China has witnessed a countrywide decline in the aluminium ingot price, this Tuesday. In Shenyang and Tianjin, the primary aluminium ingot price has declined the highest by RMB 140 per tonne to RMB 20,370 per tonne and RMB 20,390 per tonne, followed by the plunge of RMB 110 per tonne in Linyi to settle at RMB 20,500 per tonne. In Wuxi and Hangzhou, the ingot price has plunged by RMB 90 per tonne to stop at RMB 20,420 per tonne and RMB 20,470 per tonne, while both Gongyi and Fo Shan have witnessed the price fall of RMB 80 per tonne to RMB 20,360 per tonne and RMB 20,440 per tonne, respectively.

In China, the domestic price of low-carbon aluminium has dropped by RMB 80 per tonne to stand at RMB 21,043 per tonne as of May 17.

The prices of high purity aluminium (99.99%) and high purity aluminium (99.996%) have shrunk by RMB 100 per tonne, stopping at RMB 28,400 per tonne and RMB 29,400 per tonne, respectively.

Due to the degrading prices of aluminium ingots, the price of aluminium alloy (A356) has also failed to rise. According to SMM data, the price has fallen by RMB 100 per tonne to stand at RMB 21,600 per tonne. The average prices are likely to range between RMB 21,500 per tonne and RMB 21,700 per tonne.

However, the aluminium alloys (ADC12) price and aluminium alloy (A380) price have shown restrained at RMB 21,350 per tonne and RMB 22,350 per tonne, respectively.

Among input costs, the price of caustic soda (32% concentration) in Shandong has slipped by RMB 30 per tonne, closing at RMB 1,205 per tonne, with average prices to range between RMB 1,140 per tonne and RMB 1,270 per tonne.

The price of aluminium powder has settled at RMB 22.2 per kg, seeing a fall of RMB 0.10 per kg.
