
According to the latest import and export data released by China's General Administration of Customs, China imported a total volume of 198,160 tonnes scrap aluminium in November 2016. The figure represents a significant 28.61 per cent increase in scrap aluminium import by the country in 2016 as compared to the same period of previous year. China's total scrap aluminium import for the January-November period stood at 1,739,488 tonnes.
The United States, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom remained the top five scrap aluminium supplying countries for China during the period under review. China imported 56,154 tonnes of the scrap metal from the US in November and 511,462 tonnes during January-November period. The country's November import volume of scrap aluminium from Canada, however, witnessed the most significant surge of 203 per cent from the corresponding period previous year.
China's scrap aluminium import from Germany, France and the Netherlands declined year-over-year in November 2016. 
Coming to exports, China shipped 114 tonnes of aluminium scrap to the international destinations in November 2016, up 96.36 per cent from the corresponding period previous year. The country's total scrap aluminium exports for the January-November period was estimated at 578 tonnes.

Japan and Turkey remained the top destinations for China as far as its scrap aluminium shipments were concerned. China exported 99 tonnes of the scrap metal to Japan, up 173 per cent from the corresponding period previous year, and 15 tonnes to Turkey in November 2016. During January-November 2016, the country exported 471 tonnes and 43 tonnes of scrap aluminium to Japan and Turkey respectively.
